Sharing Web Resources
The organization that I've chosen to look at was the Global Fund for Children. Their focus is to build a world where every child is safe, strong, and valued. They want to give every child in the world the possibility to grow and flourish. "We strategically unite community leaders around mutual challenges, geographies, and opportunities, helping our local partners move out of isolation and into collective impact for children and youth" (GFC).
With the way the world is currently faring with the corona virus, it is no surprise that quite a few of the recent articles on the website have to do with COVID-19. The virus has disrupted many aspects of life, causing problems in every facet of life for everyone around the world. Many communities have therefore been hit hard in a lot of ways. The largest issue that many are facing is lack of money. Unemployment has skyrocketed with the virus, putting many out of work for various reasons. That said, many of the leaders that work for the Global Fund are also lacking money due to the current economy that we live in. A lot of funding is being suspended due to lack of any money being pushed through channels that would otherwise be able to be placed in the hands of said donors.
The other issue that they are seeing with COVID-19, is that not only are new problems cropping up but the ones that were already there in the past are being neglected and even worsened due to the current world crisis. It means that many children that were already in problematic situations are being left behind because the ability to help them is starting to decrease.
It's incredibly saddening to realize just how terrible the world is right now with COVID-19 still running rampant. But unless everyone starts to help out with trying to lower numbers and cases, we're going to continue watching many things crumble and fall apart under the stress of it all.

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. The part of the groups focus in making sure that every child feel valued is so strong and very needed especially in the culture of today. I love to see that we chose different organizations but the focus we both chose had to do with the effects that the pandemic has on funding programs and organizations that need help the most to benefit families and children.
Hello Delaney. I enjoyed reading your post. Thank you for the information you shared. Covid has really turned the world upside down. I agree with you, it takes us all working together to lower the numbers and stay safe. I think it is very awesome what Global Fund for Children does and I support their cause. I want to learn more about this foundation and intend to help support them financially. At this point and time, every little bit helps.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing as well! This organization reminds me of the many other relief funds created when the world experiences .a catastrophe. But the funds gets stretched so thin that very little resources get to those who need it the most: children and families. I am happy to learn that there is an organization created just for children.

I was so impressed with the work that they do that I have decided that this would be an organization that I will support annually. The fact that they contribute to the local communities through partnerships with local leaders is something that really resonates with me.
