When I Think of Research
My research simulation is important to the field of early childhood because we have many children that come into our programs that don't speak English as their first language. Whether they are newly immigrated to the United States from their country of origin or have grown up in a household that has taught them their native tongue first, many of the children in our care come from homes that speak a secondary language. That being said, these children often have a harder time learning English when they come into our programs because they aren't exposed to the language prior to starting. Understanding why they are having a hard time is a good way to make sure that we as caretakers are doing our best to make sure they are taken care of and helped in the best way possible.
I think programs that work heavily with immigrant families would benefit most from this simulation because they would have the information they need to help the families and children in their care. When you have the right resources, it benefits you and those around you greatly. I also think that the families would benefit from my simulation because they'd be able to see what is affecting their child when it comes to them trying to fit into the world around them.
My perceptions of the early childhood profession haven't changed much in this course. I've been working at my job for almost a year and a half now and I can say that much of what I read about or discussed during this course is something I deal with on a daily basis. It's been fun adding things to my bag of things to use further down the road. I'm looking forward to continuing to build upon it all.
Your simulation would greatly benefit the early childhood education field. Due to the increase in immigrants, we must learned to adjust to their needs as well. Thank you for all you do for the children who have direct contact with you!
